Challenges in life can be opportunities for growth, and that growth is tough work to do alone. I see therapy as an opportunity for a person to better understand themselves and use that knowledge to improve their life. Whether they’re seeking to understand the struggles of depression and anxiety, challenges in a relationship or family, or facing a life transition, I believe that change starts with a better understanding of oneself. Through a supportive non-judgemental relationship the journey begins by helping people become more acquainted with their thoughts, emotions, and values. I then work with clients on implementing strategies for change by utilizing strengths, skills learned in session, and challenging unhelpful patterns.
I’ve served a diverse group of clients coping with the challenges that follow traumatic events, focusing on life adjustment following injury. Living with a disability myself I am keenly aware of the road blocks individuals, couples, and families may face following a major life change, diagnoses, or loss. My goal is to provide hope, healing, and a safe space to move forward.
While completing my Master of Social Work degree at Grand Valley State University I conducted research on the challenges that can occur when integrating faith and sexuality. Pursuing wholeness and confidence in both a person’s identity and values is something that is essential to me. I want all my clients to feel safe and respected in who they are.
Whatever life may be throwing your way, I want you to know that you don’t have to face it alone.
